Channel Types

Each channel has a specific type, depending on whether the channel is designed for partners or customers. The channel type determines:

  • The business processes a partner or customer can use

  • The administrative tasks necessary to manage the channel

  • The business applications available to use the business processes and perform the administrative tasks.

Intershop Commerce Management predefines certain channel types. Predefined channel types used by sales organizations include:

  • Partner Channel

Partner channels enable sales organizations and partners to offer goods and services through partners, to interact with partners and to fulfill their orders. Partners are able to manage their organization. Partners can set up their own channels.

  • Sales Channel

Sales channels enable sales organizations and partners to offer goods and services to customers, to interact with customers and to receive orders from them. Depending on the implemented business model, Intershop Commerce Management can feature an advanced business storefront that provides business customers with advanced purchasing and self-administration features.
